Synopsis

EL DOCTOR
2005, 23 min., 35mm and DVD

In a small Mexican town, a bitter, ailing, alcoholic doctor is whisked away by medical attendants to the nearby hospital to heal a patient with holes throughout his body. Seeing no hope for his subject, he lets the man die. The old doctor is admonished by a talking gargoyle before his heart begins to give way. As he approaches death, the saint of emptiness shows the old man a new way of seeing life.

JOY STREET
1995, 24 min., 35mm and DVD

An ambitious, astonishing story of a woman's journey from suicidal despair to personal renewal, with the help of an unlikely spirit guide.

ASPARAGUS
1979, 20 min., 35mm and DVD

This candy coloured nightmare rocked audiences upon its release and catapaulted maker Suzan Pitt to the front ranks of indie animation. Stunning cel animation propels its blank-faced protagonist into the world of the phallus, rendered here as a field of asparagus, which she deep throats, excretes and flushes away. A moving meditation on art and the cost of reproduction, Asparagus remains, twenty-five years after its release, a benchmark of single frame intensity.
