YOAV SHAMIR, Writer / Director / Cinematographer
Yoav Shamir was born in Tel-Aviv in 1970. He attended
Tel-Aviv university where he received a B.A. in History and Philosophy and an MFA in Cinema. In 2001 he directed Marta and Luis which screened at the Edinburgh film festival, IDFA, DOCAVIV and other international film festivals . His 2003 documentary Checkpoint screened at over 120 international film festivals and won over 20 awards including at IDFA, Toronto, San Francisco, Munich, Madrid, Barcelona, Rome, Belgrade and Rio de Janeiro. In 2005 his documentary 5 Days screened at about 40 international film festivals including Sundance, IDFA, Edinburgh, Melbourne, Gothenburg, Seoul, and won several awards. In 2007 he directed Flipping Out which was selected for about 40 international festivals including the 2008 Berlinale Film Festival, Thessaloniki, Buenos Aires, Krakow, and San Francisco.
