Public Performance Rights

The purchase of one-time Public Performance Rights (PPR) is required for any and all open screenings of First Run Features titles. Open screenings are classified as any screening shown outside one’s home, whether it be for a public or private audience, and whether or not an admission fee is charged or donation accepted.

If you are interested in screening one of our titles in a classroom setting, please contact our educational sales department at edsales@firstrunfeatures.com or click here to learn more about our educational licenses with classroom screening rights.

Please note: per copyright law, a DVD purchased through our home video department or any other consumer retail outlet does NOT include Public Performance Rights and cannot be used for screenings or duplicated.

How to Order

Screening rights are licensed for individual showings only. Discounted package rates may be available for multiple screenings of the same title.

Fees are dependent on the number of screenings, estimated audience size, and admission charge (if any). To request a quote, please fill out our booking form or contact stsales@firstrunfeatures.com.

Once this information is received, a confirmation email and invoice will be sent via email.

Visit our theatrical catalog for a list of titles available with screening rights and their available screening formats.

Payment Options

For all orders requiring shipment, payment is due two weeks prior to your screening date. In the event you only need to purchase the screening rights and do not need a physical disc shipped to you on loan, then payment is due by the screening date.

We accept payment by check, money order, or wire transfer upon request. We also accept Visa, Mastercard, and AMEX. We do NOT accept Purchase Orders for the sale of public performance rights.

For institutions requiring First Run Features’ Federal ID: 13-3032137.

Shipping

Because payment is required before shipment, we ask that you complete your purchase at least two weeks before the intended date of use to ensure timely delivery of our product. As long as payment has been received, discs will be shipped two weeks prior to each respective screening date.

The purchase of the one-time public performance rights includes the cost of inbound disc shipments. Exhibitor is responsible for return/outbound shipments and all associated costs. All media should be returned the first business day following your screening date.

All shipments will be delivered via FedEx or UPS, requiring a non-PO Box shipping address, and should be returned using a similar trackable shipping service. Customers are required to pay round-trip shipping costs for all film print shipments; cost estimates can be provided upon request.

Damaged Media

Discs are shipped two weeks prior to a respective screening date so that they may be tested in advance for quality control. This should also allow enough time for us to replace any media that may prove defective or that may have incurred damage in shipment.

Exhibitor will be billed the following replacement fees for unreturned media, whether it be lost, stolen or damaged upon return shipment: $15 per unreturned DVD and $50 per unreturned Blu-ray disc. Film prints should be insured for the following amounts: $750 for 16mm prints and $1,500 for 35mm prints.

Refunds

First Run Features does not offer refunds for cancelled screenings. If a screening must be cancelled or rescheduled, we will honor a makeup date for a future screening of the same title free of charge.
