Twice an Oscar Winner and considered one of the foremost cinematographers in
the history of film, Sven Nykvist is best known for his work with Ingmar Bergman,
with whom he created some of the most important films of modern cinema.
Despite a tumultuous personal life that included the tragic suicide of his
oldest son and a sweeping love affair with Mia Farrow, Nykvist continued to
collaborate on projects with filmmakers such as Woody Allen, Louis Malle, Andrei
Tarkovsky, Roman Polanski and many others. In 1998 he was diagnosed with Aphasia,
an affliction that would end his career.
Lovingly directed by his son Carl-Gustaf, Light Keeps Me Company includes film
clips, rare home movies, family photographs, behind-the-scenes footage, and
interviews with some of the legends who've worked with him, including Ingmar
Bergman, Roman Polanski, Woody Allen, Liv Ullman, Susan Sarandon, and many others.
"Essential viewing for anyone interested in the making of quality movies!" -Variety
